I had bought new NETGEAR EX7500 AC2200 Nighthawk X4S Tri-band Wi-Fi mesh extender. How can I setup this new extender?

NETGEAR EX7500 AC2200 Nighthawk X4S Tri-band Wi-Fi mesh extender is world’s first wall-plug Wi-Fi range extender with tri-band.

This feature makes it most outstanding one, among other Netgear Mesh Extender.

If you have AC2200 mesh extender and want to install it in already installed network, then first thing that you should have to know is about various LEDs and buttons present on your extender.

As these LEDs and buttons are of great use during installation process, so basic knowledge about them will be of great help.

Let’s begin by discussing about LEDs. Various LEDs present on extender are:

1)Power LED: - It helps us in knowing status of power supplied to the extender.

Note:-If Power LED turns to be off, then this means your extender is not getting any power.

If it is blinking blue, then this signify that extender is still booting.

When it’s status turns out to be solid blue then that means your device is powered on and ready to be used.

2)Router Link LED: - It shows status of, connection between extender device and router.

Different Status of Router Link LED are:

Solid Blue: To signify best connection among router and extender.

Solid amber: Signify that connection is good enough to make your network running.

Solid red: Signifies poor quality of signal.

Blinking blue: Signifies that your extender is resetting to its factory default.

Off: Shows there is no connection between router and extender.

3) WPS LED: - Solid blue light signifies established link between extender and WPS enabled device whereas blinking blue light means that your extender is trying to establish link with WPS enabled device.

4)  2.4 GHz Client Link LED: - This LED is used to know status of connection between AC2200 WiFi extender and 2.4 GHz WiFi client. Various states shown by this LED are:

Solid Blue: Signifies best connection.

Solid amber: Signifies that strength of link is in good state.

Solid red: Signifies poor state of connection.

Off: Signifies that there is no connection at all.

5. 5 GHz Client Link LED: - It symbolise connection between your mesh extender and 5 GHz WiFi client. Different states involved are:

Solid Blue: Signifies ideal connection.

Solid amber: Signifies that link is in good state

Solid red: This is the point where user should have to be concerned. This is because, this signifies that link between your extender and router is poor.

Off: It signifies that there is no connection at all.

After knowing about LEDs, let’s proceed for buttons that are present on the side panel of your extender. These are basically two in number:

  1. WPS/Power button
  2. Reset Button

1-WPS/Power button: - This button can work as both WPS as well as Power button. If you will press and hold the button for less than five seconds, then it will act as WPS button, which has its application in installing NETGEAR Wi-Fi extender in WPS mode.

If you press and hold the button for more than five seconds, then it will start working as Power button.

2-Reset Button: - Pressing this button will reset your extender.

There are basically two methods to setup new NETGEAR range extender. That are:

1)WPS method: - In this method all user has to do is press WPS button, present on side panel of NETGEAR extender, which we had discussed above.
Once WPS LED start blinking, do press WPS button of your router.

Router Link LED will turn to be solid blue to signify established WPS connection between your extender and router.
Just by this your NETGEAR EX7500 mesh extender setup gets completed.
